Day 10: Prepared, Not Rushed

Scripture: Exodus 13:17-18 - When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.”

God deliberately avoids shortcuts. He led Israel away from the fastest route, not because He was uncertain, but because He was intentional. Speed can move you forward quickly while leaving your inner life unprepared for what you will face.

Short paths expose untrained hearts. God knew that immediate battle would overwhelm His people. He chose preparation over arrival. Readiness mattered more than proximity.

Rushing often comes from fear. Waiting builds courage. When God slows the pace, He is not withholding progress. He is strengthening capacity. Preparation protects purpose and matures faith in ways speed never can.

Ask yourself honestly: What shortcut am I tempted to take right now? God does not delay to frustrate you. He delays to fortify you. What feels slow today may be the very thing preserving you for tomorrow.

Reflection: Where have you mistaken delay for denial?

Prayer: God, help me trust Your process. Protect me from rushing ahead of You. Prepare me fully for what You’ve promised.

Practice:

  • Thank God today for a delay you do not yet understand.

God’s timing is not accidental. It is precise.
